There is a programme of training available throughout the year for new first aiders and refresher sessions for existing first aiders.

Evaluate level of provision required taking into account activity, location and availability - record on assessment form (appendix 1 in university first aid code of practice). Small, low risk schools/departments should notify any sharing arrangements in place or to be established. Schools/departments need to ensure that the assessed level of provision is achieved and maintained. Ensure adequate provision of first aid supplies, normally in the form of first aid boxes. Consider the requirement for specialist first aid provision, e. G. Covering cyanide work, hydrofluoric acid work, fieldwork publicise who the first aiders are in the local safety policy and by displaying notices (green and white).
